Recipe for Sugar Cookies with Frosting
This easy recipe for sugar cookie tastes delicious topped with homemade icing or frosting. It is a delightful little cookie with sweetness in every bite that melts in your mouth.
Equipment
- Microwave-safe bowl (to melt butter)
- 2 Medium bowls (for wet and dry ingredients)
Ingredients
- 5½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 sticks unsalted butter 1 and ½ cups
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch salt 1/16 tsp
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Melt the butter in the microwave for about 50 to 60 seconds. May take less time depending on the power of your microwave.
- Transfer the melted butter into a medium-sized bowl, then add the sugar to the melted butter. Mix.
- Add the eggs to the butter and sugar. Mix.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract to the butter, sugar, and eggs. Mix.
- In a different bowl, add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix.
- Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to make the cookie dough.
- Take the cookie dough out of the bowl and lay it on a lightly floured surface.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin about 1/4 of an inch thick.
- Cut out cookie shapes.
- Spray non-stick cooking spray on a cookie sheet.
- Place 12 cookie shapes on the cookie sheet.
- Bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes until the top of the cookie is barely browned.
- After baking, let the cookies sit on the cookie sheet for about one minute.
- Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and let them sit for about a minute to cool.
- Repeat with the rest of the cookie dough.
