🎂 How to Make No Bake Oreo Cheesecake Bars
These step-by-step instructions are accompanied by detailed photos for enhanced clarity and guidance.
Step 1. Set out the Butter and Cream Cheese
The first step is to take the cream cheese out of the refrigerator and let it set on the countertop at room temperature until it becomes soft, which usually takes about 10 minutes or so. You can take the butter out of the refrigerator too, but in a later step, we are going to put the butter into the microwave to melt it.
Step 2. Place the Cookies in a Bag
In the next few steps, we will be preparing the crust for this delicious no bake dessert recipe. Put 25 golden Oreo cookies in a ziplock bag. Release most of the air out of the bag before sealing. If you have too much air in the bag, when you start to smash the cookies, you will pop the bag.
Step 3. Smash the Cookies
Crush the cookies with a rolling pin or smash them with your hands into fine crumbs, but some small chunks are okay. If you have a food processor, you can use that instead.
Step 4. Melt the Butter
If you didn’t set the butter out on the countertop to soften it in step one, you can do this step instead. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 6 tablespoons of butter for 40 seconds, or until it becomes soft.
Step 5. Add the Melted Butter to the Crushed Cookies
In a medium bowl, add the melted butter together with the crushed cookies.
Step 6. Combine the Melted Butter with the Crushed Cookies
With a spoon or rubber spatula, stir the melted butter together with the crushed cookies until blended well.
Step 7. Put the Oreo Cookie Mixture into a Baking Dish and then the Freezer
In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the Oreo cookie crust mixture in an even layer. After that, press the cookie mixture down to pack it into the baking dish. Then, set the baking dish with the Oreo crust in the freezer for at least 15 to 30 minutes to set. We need the crust to be firm as it is the base for the cream cheese filling we will be putting on top of it, which is later in the steps below.
Tip: There is no need to spray the dish with non-stick cooking spray or lay parchment paper down first. Also, if you would like a thick Oreo crust, you can certainly use more than 25 golden Oreo cookies.
Step 8. Prepare the Cream Cheese
We are now ready to start preparing the cheesecake filling. In a large mixing bowl, or the bowl the cookie mixture was in, add the 32 ounces of room temperature cream cheese we set out on the countertop earlier.
Step 9. Whip the Cream Cheese
With a hand-held electric mixer or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, whip the cream cheese until it has a smooth and fluffy texture with stiff peaks. This only takes just a couple of minutes.
Step 10. Add the Vanilla Extract and Powdered Sugar
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract together with the cream cheese. Then, scoop out 3/4 of a cup of powdered sugar in a measuring cup and add it to the cream cheese mixture.
Step 11. Mix the Cream Cheese Mixture Thoroughly
Whip the cream cheese mixture, vanilla, and powdered sugar with the hand mixer until well blended. After that, set the mixture in the refrigerator for now.
Step 12. Prepare the Oreo Cookie Crumbs for the Cheesecake Filling
Put 16 Oreo cookies in a ziplock bag. Try to get as much air out of the bag as you can before sealing the bag. As mentioned before, releasing as much air as possible out of the bag makes it easier to crush the cookies and not pop the bag.
Step 13. Crush the Oreo Cookies
Use a rolling pin or your hands to crush the Oreo cookies into pieces. The crushed Oreo cookie crumbs will be added to the cheesecake filling in the next step.
Tip: How much you crush the cookies will depend on how big or small you want the cookies to be inside the cream cheese filling. If you want small pieces, crush the cookies more. If you want bigger chunks, don’t crush the cookies as much.
Step 14. Add the Crushed Cookies to the Cream Cheese Filling
Get the cream cheese mixture out of the refrigerator and add the crushed Oreos to it. Then add 8 ounces of Cool Whip together with the cream cheese mixture and crushed cookies.
Step 15. Mix the Cream Cheese, Crushed Cookies, and Cool Whip
Use a spatula to fold in the crushed cookies and Cool Whip together with the cream cheese mixture. Blend until thoroughly mixed.
Step 16. Pour the Cream Cheese Mixture into the Baking Dish
Get the baking dish with the crushed Oreo crust out of the freezer. Then, using a spatula, scoop out the cream cheese mixture that is in the bowl and spread it on top of the crust that is already in the baking dish.
Step 17. Put the Sprinkles on Top
Sprinkle red, white, and blue sprinkles on the top of the Oreo cheesecake filling.
Step 18. Break the Golden and Regular Oreo Cookies Apart
The golden Oreo cookies and the regular Oreo cookies will be placed on top of the sprinkles in the next step, but first, we need to break them apart. Take four golden Oreo cookies and four regular Oreo cookies and break them into pieces.
Step 19. Put the Pieces of Cookies on Top of the Oreo Cheesecake Bars
After you have sprinkled on the colorful sprinkles, place the broken pieces of Oreo cookies on top of the Oreo cheesecake. You can lay some cookie pieces on top of the cream cheese mixture and push some other cookies down just a bit.
Step 20. Place the Oreo Cheesecake Bars in the Refrigerator
Before serving these amazing Oreo cheesecake bars, place them in the refrigerator for a couple of hours or more to set up until firm. Four hours of chill time will produce the best results.
