🥤 How to Make Frozen Lemonade Recipe with Fruit
These step-by-step instructions are accompanied by detailed photos for enhanced clarity and guidance.
Step 1. Add the Ice
In a blender, add 4 cups of ice cubes. I would advise not to use a food processor just in case the power output isn’t strong enough to crush the frozen ice cubes.
Step 2. Add the Sugar
The next step is to add 1/2 cup of sugar together with the ice cubes that are in the blender. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. Use a little less sugar if you like a tart tasting, stronger lemonade flavor. Use more sugar if sweeter lemonade is more your style.
Tip: You can always add less sugar, and then do a taste test after you have finished Step 4.
Step 3. Pour in the Lemon Juice
Measure 1 cup of lemon juice and pour it into the blender together with the ice cubes and the added sugar. You can squeeze the juice from six fresh lemons if you prefer to make it fresh.
Step 4. Blend the Ice, Sugar, and Lemon Juice
For the best results, turn the blender on low speed to start. After that, work up to medium speed if need be. Blend the ice cubes, sugar, and lemon juice just until it becomes a slushy consistency. Do not over blend. We don’t want the ice cubes to turn into water.
Tip: If you added less than the 1/2 cup of sugar that we used in Step 2, this is when you can add more sugar if the lemonade isn’t sweet enough for you.
Step 5. Arrange Blueberries in Bottom of Glasses
Put one cup of blueberries, divided just about equally, into the bottom of 4 glasses. However, you can toss in whatever amount you prefer. Try to arrange the blueberries in a single layer (as much as possible) on the bottom of the glass.
Step 6. Fill with Crushed Lemonade
Pour the frozen crushed lemonade mixture into each of the 4 glasses. If you used a few more ice cubes than we did, that will produce a little more lemonade. Make sure that you leave a little bit of room at the top of the glass so there is room for the sliced strawberries in the next step after this one.
Step 7. Place Strawberries on Top
Wash and cut the strawberries in half. Remove the core stem inside the strawberry. Arrange the strawberries on top of the crushed lemonade. Voilà, all done. Enjoy!
Tip: An absolute easy and brilliant way to remove the stem from strawberries is to insert a drinking straw into the center of the strawberry, from the bottom up. After that, push the straw all the way through the strawberry to remove the stem.
🌟 Recipe Variations
- Make it your favorite way by using different varieties of fruit in this lemonade drink. Some examples are fresh lemon slices on top, or use frozen mixed berries on the bottom of the glass. Frozen berries will keep the drink colder longer, but will thaw by the time you get to the bottom of the drink.
- Grate a little bit of lemon zest from a lemon peel, then add it in or on the top of the lemonade.
- Make a large batch of this homemade version of lemonade by doubling this recipe.
- A refreshing way to end your evening is to add some tequila to this homemade frozen lemonade recipe to make it an adult only frozen margarita lemonade.
🙋 FAQs
You can put any leftover lemonade with fruit in the refrigerator, but the slushy ice consistency will melt. But that’s okay, just give it a good stir before drinking it.
Or, you can put the leftovers in individual single serving containers in the freezer, and then when you are ready for another lemonade drink, take one container out of the freezer and let it set on the countertop until it is partially thawed.
